This pre-Lent mega-celebration sees around 2 million visitors flocking to Brazil’s iconic city. Though the festival is celebrated in every state of Brazil, none can match the extravaganza of Rio. The spotlights of the festival are Samba Parade, which features revelers, floats, and adornments from numerous samba schools. The performance of each school has three sections:
1. Comissão de Frente or Front Commission
Each school presents a theme-based performance, which begins with Front Commission, in which a group of 10 to 15 people from the school appears first. They introduce their school and set the mood and style of their presentation. They stage dances choreographed to narrate a story. Their fancy colorful costumes leave the audience in awe.
